I spent the last 5 weeks in Goa India, participating in a 300 hour yoga teacher training course. Trimurti Yogi is located in beautiful South Goa just 10 minutes from the beach. The course is based on the five elements from Ayurveda + Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) perspectives and Yin/Yang. Our final project and presentation focused on yoga for therapy. I loved the variety of the course structure because it focused on the art of teaching yoga, sequencing of yoga classes (based on multi-style ashtanga, vinyasa, hatha and yin), alignment and adjustments, anatomy and therapeutical yoga. It was a lot to cover during the 4 week period and although it felt intensive at times, it was well executed and managable to follow.
My experience at Trimurti was even more incredible then I could have imaged. Which is why I would love to share my experience more with you. In the beginning we were given a yoga teaching web which helped us reflect and break down ourselves a bit. Questions included what our strong points are, our personal backgrounds, our beliefs, our skills, our experience that guided us to yoga, our yoga students, our individual self-practice and our weaknesses. These questions were powerful because they allowed me to organize my thoughts and dive deeper into how I am, why am I here, what yoga means to me and how I can share it with the world. This exercise is a good representation of Trimurti’s teaching methodoloy. They not only gave us a set of tools and knowledge but they took us through a journey to dive deeper into ourselves. Through out the month we learned about the five elements (in ayurveda + TCM) and how to create balance and manifest their qualities into our lives. Five elements are earth, water, fire air and space. This concept is something I believe we can all relate to because each element lives within all of us and in the nature surrounding us.
Here’s a sample of our days. Lectures involved learning about the five elements (Ayurveda + TCM), yin/yang, anatomy, alignment and adjustments etc., sequencing and the breakdown of meditation, yoga nidra, pranayama and more.
6:00am - 6:30am : self practice
6:30am - 8:30am : morning yang practice (vinyasa or hatha style)
8:30am- 10:00am : breakfast

1:00pm - 2:30pm : lunch

There were 19 of us in my course. A group of beings from around the world with different teaching styles and backgrounds. Despite all of our differences but what really brought us together was our love for yoga and passion to learn more. Most of us were learning new material and we were all given multiple opportunities to present it on our teachings. The support, love and compassion we offered to one another was honestly what made this month even more special. I’m not only leaving with a whole mind of knowledge but my heart has grown in way’s I didn’t know was possible. The connections I’ve made with what I call my “soul tribe”. I thank each and every one of you for showing up, sharing your self and your knowledge and for being dedicated to this yoga practice.
The day of our ceremony each and everyone of us were glowing. Glowing for gratitude, appreciation, completion and connection. We were each asked 3 questions to share and here are my answers.
1. What are you taking with you?
I am taking confidence for my teaching. Through out past month I felt so supported and nurtured. I 100% trusted that I was exactly where I am supposed to be in this time and place. I volunteered to teach multiple times and I honestly taught with my heart and did the best I could. I am also taking a whole set of knowledge and tools to support my teaching so that I can share it in my yoga classes.
2. What are you grateful for?
I am grateful for all the new friendships and connections I have met the last month. I absolutely loved spending time with everyone and the relationships I built with some I know will be in my life forever. Also the feedback and support I got from everyone. Staying up after a long day to practice a sequence that I planned. I thank each and every one of you. Also grateful for my friends and family back home, who supported me during this journey.
3. What is something you want to work on?
I want to work on sharing my voice and listening to my intuition. I believe these two go together because without listening to my intuition and staying true to my own values and beliefs, I will not be able to authentically share my voice. I’m here to share my voice and do my part in making this planet better then when I arrived.
